Penny was a local rescue. A very concerned neighbor of Penny’s reached out to us and begged us to take her. Penny had only resided at her current location with cattle for a couple months. Prior to that, we were told that she was taken from another bad situation near Ohio. Based on what was told about her to her last owner, she use to be a barrel horse in her hay days but then she just couldn’t hack it anymore and was taken to an auction. We also believe she had a few foals. Her prior owner got her directly from the auction and then she was passed around a couple more times privately. She is old and we were all very aware of that! She was at a very high risk for being dumped at a kill auction yet again. We decided to step in and help. Penny was not eating and we were warned of this up front. She was a skeleton getting off the cattle trailer. It immediately became clear that Penny was lacking many teeth and hence why she could not eat a normal hay diet! A swift diet change to soaked cubes/mash and ProForce Senior is doing the job nicely! Her appetite has rapidly improved and she is otherwise a very old healthy mare. It is suspected that Penny is in her mid 30’s. We will keep this beautiful girl comfortable as long as she allows us. She is so kind and loving, not a mean bone in her body! We are so lucky to have her with us for the remainder of her days.
Penny does require special feed and cannot eat regular hay. She receives the following:

PEN Aloe/MSM Daily
Garlic Supplement Daily
Horse Guard Weight Gain Daily
