Things I Love & Use

For the majority of our grain, feed and shaving needs, we use our local Burkmann Nutrition Company. We get almost everything for our horses and all our livestock at Burkmann. If you’re busy, they also offer delivery and pick up drive through. They also offer a wide variety of cat and dog products, as well as a dog washing room/station. 

There are just a few old guys, with special needs that I have to keep feeding this grain/feed. Our local feed store does not carry it, they carry their own line of feed. Tractor Supply usually does carry it, but you may want to do a ”subscription order” to make sure they always have it in stock for you; they tend to ALWAYS run out! The ProForce line is amazing! I have used it since it launched many years ago and I have zero complaints! The Senior feed especially, is fantastic for older horses and those with dental issues! It’s very soft and can be fed as a main source of forage and overall feed. ProForce also has a feed for extreme athletes I really like, ProForce Fuel. If you have a picky eater, no problem! I have never seen a horse snub this feed. On the contrary, they beg for it! 

An overseas veterinarian from Ireland recommended this company to me over a decade ago, when working through trials with a severe shivers case I had. My very beloved 18.3 Clydesdale, came down with shivers at age 4; I had him since he was 3. He grew so fast and so much that it ultimately did him in. He weighted 2,000 lbs. He however was my most prized horse. These supplements worked wonders for him! He survived 13 more years, until he came down with DSLD and we could no longer make him comfortable. I fell in love with these supplements and started using them on all my horses, especially the older guys and athletes. PEN does not sell out to other companies, you must buy direct. I live by these supplaments and I can’t recommend them enough! 

Have a hard keeper? If you own a Thoroughbred, or have at one point, you probably feel my pain. There’s always those one or two horses that just can’t keep the weight on, but the rest of the barn is fat and happy. I did a test run on this supplement over a year ago now, with my hardest case and was pleasantly surprised! It was affordable and my horses loved it. Now I have it on auto ship! I currently have 3 horses in my barn on this supplement.  

I have now lived at three separate farms where a drag was necessary. My first farm, I put in my own 240 x 150 jumping arena and a state of the art drag to maintain my investment, was mandatory! After purchasing this drag, that was it, I was in love, it does EVERYTHING and then some. This drag is a machine and doesn’t disappoint! You can usually get the ABI attachment and equipment on 0% financing too. Very easy company to work with in my opinion and I have now purchased three of these!
