………… Circa 1870 …………
Built in 1870 by James Harlan, a prominent family name in the Danville and surrounding communities, and then ultimately resided in by the J. Miller family whom purchased it from Harlan’s, the historic tobacco and livestock plantation boasts quite a rich history! The home has been well maintained and updated over the years and the small, original family grave site still sits on the back of the property under some shade trees. The historic and well renowned Kentucky Stone Walls still surround the main home and many of its pastures. There is an old ruin that sits in one of the front pastures, which we believe to be an old spring house from the early 1800’s; it is accompanied by its equally aged windmill that use to serve as a water pump.
For many years the farm was a cattle and crop operation, but the current owners are updating the land and structures to be a modern Equine stable. The main farm is still surrounded on all sides by soybean and corn crops, that rotate annually. The crop lands are leased out and for the time being, are contracted with Buffalo Trace Distillery, in Frankfort, KY for use in the distilling process. It is a private residence and not open to the public or boarders at this time. The current owners are excited to preserve its history and continue updates of this magnificent property!
